What is Tar Heel Wiki about?

This site is a wiki dedicated to The University Encyclopedia Project started by Thomas at WikiAnthropy.com! We aim to preserve and promote the past and present history of Tar Heel culture as it was when it was established, and how it continues to evolve today. This includes documenting anything in regard to UNC Chapel Hill and the Tar Heel community, its colleges and schools, buildings, monuments, notable alumni, athletes, coaches, athletic teams, professors, students, academic and veterinary research, traditions, songs, mascots, logos, and so on.

We encourage the community of alumni, alumni associations, faculty, staff, students, student associations, enthusiasts, fans, and associated blogs/websites/internet communities to create what we intend to be the ultimate voice and authority of everything Tar Heel!

At the moment Tar Heel Wiki is [still under development], but mostly in regard to extending current capabilities!

Please create an account and log in to start contributing to the wiki! You can even follow us on twitter! Any time a page is edited our system sends a tweet through our twitter account! Its what we like to think of a next-gen watch page!

How do I get started?

This is a good question!

First, anonymous users cannot create pages nor edit them so you need to create an account. We are working on some single sign on capabilities, like the ability to login with Google's OpenID. You are given the choice of how much privacy you want to exercise - including making a new account not associated with any of your personal social networks. We also do not require that you offer any information other than what you want to reveal on your [username:talk] (link is to my talk or "profile" page) page.

In a short time this section will be filled with a few links to the how-to's, policies, and standards of article creation. Most of these pages will come directly from Wikipedia's policies. For now simply be 1. responsible, 2. respectful, 3. truthful, and 4. neutral in what you write and the articles you create.

Policies and help pages will be posted soon!
